Chicago Reader
Frank Garvey peppers
much of his talk about art with talk about politics, and vice versa, and
somewhere around the intersection of the two emerges his conviction that
art should serve the needs of the people. Accordingly, one approaches
his concert not knowing whether to expect it to provoke thought or to
assault the ears. But one leaves it with a need fulfilled - the perennial
human need for music to provide the soul with a mystifying, uplifting,
ennobling experience...it is pure, emotionally charged, heartseering,
absolute music.
